With the questions of living forever vs. being ready to “move on” to something new as a church might teach, I have always looked for the next challenge. I performed Y2K testing for an organization when I was part of the family consulting business. I made up my mind after that experience that I wanted to be around to help solve the 2100 issues that would come up. My financial planning has always contained 2100 as a goal date. I am currently 42 years old. In 2100 I will be 131 years old. Of course to solve the issues of 2100 you have to live longer than that date. I have always planned it so that my financial wellbeing would have enough capital to carry my life out indefinitely. My plans are on track.
I love to travel. Part of the reason I have always tried to devote a significant amount of time to traveling each year is that I have seen people who save up for retirement to travel and then not have the physical ability to travel or to enjoy traveling. I never wanted to be in that situation.
To integrate the concept of immortal life into the “Play” business of a tour company, I get to do one of the things I love doing and by so doing it, I will get more exercise which is part of keeping oneself fit and healthy.
Thanks,
Michael
